Taming the Wild and Creating Gardens

New painting "Golden Rain" at Era Contemporary

I'm excited to share that a new piece of art named "Golden Rain" is now available through Era Contemporary. A huge thank you to Jessica Libor at Era Contemporary for including me in the virtual group show "Gardens of Enchantment" with an incredible group of artists. It's such an honour to see this extremely high level of painting surrounding my own work!

Inspiring Canada

Vancouver Island (including Salt Spring Island) was a dream-come-true and one of the best holidays ever. My current paintings (see a work in progress below) are strongly influenced by the Canadian wilderness and reflections on how us humans are always attempting to tame the wild... we wish we could make it all ours, make it all into one beautiful accessible garden. And yet, it seems to stay just outside our reach. In Canada, we constantly felt like we were just on the edge of "Nothingness"... yet couldn't really escape the human effort to tame it. There were perfectly maintained trails and toilets, signs everywhere reminded us  that humans make the rules... and wild animals (e.g. bears and cougars) stay mystical beings that could disturb the human, if unlucky.
